Doreen DiGangi, MA, CCC/SLP, PROMPT® Certified Clinician
Doreen is a well-regarded PROMPT Certified speech-language pathologist who received her M.A. in Speech-Language Pathology from Queens College. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and is also certified as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities. Doreen demonstrates excellence in her use of PROMPT technique to develop articulation, phonological and expressive language skills in children with a wide range of communication disorders including Childhood Apraxia of Speech, neuromuscular disorders (cerebral palsy and muscular dystrophy), Autism Spectrum Disorder, numerous genetic syndromes and global speech and language delay. Doreen is trained and experienced in the use of Dynavox systems, numerous tablet APPs for AAC, Picture Exchange Communication Systems (PECS) and American Sign Language for children who require alternative and augmentative communication systems as they learn to speak.
Doreen is currently employed in a school-based setting as well as private practice. In both educational and clinical settings, Doreen is focused not only on assessment and treatment of motor speech deficits, but also on functional communication skills that facilitate meaningful use of language in both home and school environments. She demonstrates consistent and effective communication with multi-disciplinary team members including teachers, therapists, physicians and caregivers to maximize treatment efficacy and promote generalization of skills outside of the therapy setting. Doreen is devoted to developing each child's speech production skills during language-based therapy sessions and to providing family-centered carryover activities that facilitate consistent use of language in varied communication environments.
