Kristen Conklin, MA, CCC/SLP, PROMPT® Certified Clinician
Kristen is a practicing speech-language pathologist who received her Masters Degree in Speech-Language Pathology from Hofstra Univsersity. She holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from ASHA and is also certified as a Teacher of Students with Speech and Language Disabilities. Post-graduate studies have focused on Childhood Apraxia of Speech and the use of PROMPT therapy to treat a wide range of speech production disorders in children. Kristen's areas of specialization include working with toddlers, preschoolers and school-age children with communication disorders related to autism, PDD-NOS, CAS (childhood apraxia of speech), neuromuscular disorders, central auditory processing disorder, speech delays, and language disorders. She is currently employed in a school-based setting as well as private practice.
In both school and clinical settings, Kristen demonstrates consistent and effective communication with team members including teachers, therapists and caregivers to maximize each child's learning potential and to support generalization of newly learned speech production skills. Kristen is focused not only on assessment and treatment of motor speech deficits, but also on functional communication skills that facilitate meaningful use of language in both home and school environments. Kristen has received high levels of praise for her use of PROMPT® technique to develop her clients' phonological, speech production and expressive communication abilities.
