The 2009 Long Island, NY Childhood Apraxia of Speech Walk-a-Thon, "Unlock our Voice, Open our Future" will be held at Eisenhower Park on Sunday, October 18, 2009. Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS) is a motor speech disorder that causes children to have difficulty programming movements of the oral musculature for speech production and may result in severe expressive communication disorder. Children with CAS require intensive speech therapy designed to improve the planning, sequencing, and coordination of oral muscle movements for speech production.
Donna supports the Childhood Apraxia of Speech Association of North America (CASANA)’s mission, which is to strengthen the support systems in the lives of children with apraxia. CASANA is designated as a 501(c)3 public charity. All proceeds from this walkathon will benefit CASANA.
The walk will start at 10:00 am, at Parking Field #5, the "Cherry Area" in Eisenhower Park. Pre-registration is $20 for adults and $10 for children. Join Team_Donna by registering online.
